I must say this is the best SongsToWearPantsTo collab I've seen, however there was one that let it down, the toenails one. All of the rest had good animation (except for maybe the dinosaur one!) but the Toenail one was boring. There was no facial expression (his face stayed the same all the time), and the character's lip syncing was all wrong. It ruined a brilliant collab!
Really? Cause I had fun working with Lambinvoker. He was a good sport, eager to participate, one of the first and most thorough with his part, really supportive of the project, and an overall nice guy.
And you know, I thought his part itself was alright. And I'm sure there are those out there who loved it. Depends on your tastes, and, yes, most people's tastes incline them to like the others more, but hey, maybe someone out there especially enjoyed his part.
Most importantly, he enjoyed making it, and we enjoyed having him take part.
We didn't make this to become the next biggest thing to hit the internet. We made it for the fun of it. When I approached several of the guys I invited to this collab with the proposal, they said, "Yeah, I love Andrew's songs. This should be fun." Some of them just wanted to join cause of certain other animators in the collab- not because those animators were "popular NG artists", but because most of us who worked on this were friends, and it's just a great way to communicate and "hang out" (in a way). Especially since, when you know someone mostly over the web and may have only met them in person once or twice, personal communication (especially when you live on opposite parts of the world) isn't easy.
So we animate together. It's enjoyable.
As I said, this collab was made for the fun of it. Now, you can criticize Lambinvoker's part all you want. As I said, we're all open to criticism. Go ahead. Tear my stuff apart. I know I'm lacking in areas.
However, to say this "ruined the collab" is somewhat foolish. I don't think you got what this collab was about.
This collab was about not caring whether some kid on the internet went "w00t" and added it to his favorites list (though this is still cool and we appreciate the compliments).
It was about our own enjoyment, making something however we felt like without thinking twice about what "usually goes" and having fun animating this project together.
You know, maybe, in the end, that actually ended up helping us. Maybe that's why so many people liked this.
It wasn't yet another Sonic collab created solely to make an animation that would get popular on the internet, no matter how crappy.
It wasn't tons of making sure this and that fit to what the usual NG expectations are for collabs.
We didn't want to go with the flow.
Nor did we try to go against the flow. There are a lot of animators around here who think they're "rogues" and not part of the crowd by making their animations and collabs and whatever in any way possible to the exact OPPOSITE of what they know Newgrounders will like (this includes spending most of their time spamming, dissing people, etc).
Of course, by all doing this, they're still going with the flow and trying to be part of the crowd. Just a different crowd and a different flow.
(Just a message here- I'm not against these guys at all. In fact, I think it's awesome how they shake up the water around here. I'm just pointing out that, in doing so, they're still conforming, just to a different group and audience.)
We tried to remain outside the spectrum completely. To make something for simple enjoyment.
And I loved it.
But thanks for your compliments.

And wow... That was a needlessly long response... Can't believe I wrote all that... Oh well, I can refer future reviewers to this one instead of constantly having to rewrite portions of what is ultimately the same message.
All of those flash artists worked together to make...this pile of rubbish! Zekeyspaceylizard, you can do better than this! Next time, make it a movie, not a page of text an a picture.
I make games, though not with flash. I don't know how to make flash and the time I actually tried downloading the Adobe Flash Maker it: a) Cost almost £1000 b) Was too big a file to go on my computer So thats about it really! Oh, and I make videos too!
